Context
Staff in service industries, like education and healthcare, experience significant workloads, including work volume, complexity, and shifting cognitive demands. It is a source of stress, anxiety, productivity loss, and attrition among employees in these industries.
Challenge
An education provider needed a theoretical framework with supporting literature to help ground the activies of their executive workload management reference group.
Approach
As part of larger initiatives on work and job design, ViVA conducted scientific literature on workload impacts and school teacher attrition patterns.
Outcomes
ViVA crafted the definition principally adopted by an executive workload management reference group. They developed a journey map to profile the teacher attrition patterns, with distinctions by sex, tenure, event exposures, and age to inform the reference group on specific work design vulnerabilities and potential intervention areas.
