Context
Government and large corporate entities must increasingly prioritise diversity, equity, and inclusivity. For these organisations, embedding diversity into workplace design is essential for enacting inclusivity policies and advancing equity positions. Addressing diversity through design ensures compliance with evolving societal expectations and makes room for innovation, while framing the methods to achieve measurable, sustainable impacts.
Challenge
Business and government leaders needed a clear framework to transition from inclusivity policies to an actionable diversity plan. They needed to position strategies in diverse but complementary business units to achieve meaningful results.
Approach
ViVA facilitated workshops, developed tailored education material, wrote a position paper, and worked closely with executives and senior leadership operational teams to craft bespoke ‘Design for Diversity’ frameworks. Drawing on scientific literature and industry insights, we clarified the distinction between diversity (the WHAT), inclusivity (the WHY), and design (the HOW). Using this framework, we helped state and local government entities, industry groups, and organisations align diversity initiatives with inclusivity goals.
Outcomes
ViVA’s approaches enabled government and industry groups to develop actionable frameworks to enact inclusivity policies and launch industry-supported funded research projects that outlined diversity philosophies. Additionally, this helped these entities build clear, measurable indicators of these initiatives.
