Strategic Initiatives: Service Design & User Experience
Michael Grima supports ViVA in service design, design conceptualisation, and design strategy.
Michael is an innovation & packaging design specialist with 30 year’s industry experience covering Senior Design and innovation roles for Kambrook, Cryovac Sealedair, Outerspace Design and Mondelez.
He is the founder of qDesign Enterprises – a Packaging Design and Innovation firm – and runs a second start-up – The Pack Collective – who provide Customer and User Experience solutions for Service based industries. In both forms the “Human Experience” is central to their thinking.
Michael and his team have won +50 local and international design awards in the packaging and design fields including 9x WPO WordStar awards starting with the Golden Circle Juice Bottle – Australia’s inaugural winner – back in 2012.
Today Michael offers independent packaging design and sustainability services for FMCG brands while juggling roles as a Solutions Designer for Coles Own Brand – Sustainable Packaging team and an on-call Packaging Consultant to KFC Australia. These roles are focused on packaging sustainability to meet the Australian 2025 National Packaging targets and various Single-Use Plastic state bans.
A keen life learner, Michael’s other packaging involvements include past National President of the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP); a half day trainer for “Design for Accessibility”; Senior judge for the past PCA, Packaging Design Awards and the Course curator and Senior lecturer of the AIP’s Design Elective for the University of Melbourne’s “Master of Food and Packaging Innovation” course.
